ABOUT ME

Sierra Hernandez
International Business Student
My name is Sierra Hernandez and I am an Undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina. I am double majoring in International Business and Marketing and minoring in French. I plan to graduate in May 2018 and I am currently looking to apply to the Masters of International Business at the University of South Carolina to further my education in the field. I also want to become a Marketing Manager of an international company one day, and I believe that this education will help me achieve my career goals.
Freshman year of high school I discovered marketing and business. I was enthralled and loved the field and knew I wanted to pursue the major in college. Marketing intrigued me because the field was a great way for me to express creatively while thinking analytically and these would be expressed through marketing strategy and advertising. Going to college was very important to me because both of my parents were the first in their families to attend college and I wanted to follow in their footsteps.
I am currently halfway done with my senior year and I wanted to pursue Graduation with Leadership Distinction because I really wanted to wrap up my college experience in the best way possible. This would be reflecting on my experiences inside the classrooms and outside the classroom, piecing together how both of these experiences shaped me into the person I am today, and the person I want to be tomorrow.
In this e-portfolio, you can explore my experiences within the classroom and how that ties into my study abroad in Hong Kong. Studying abroad has really broadened my horizons. Before Spring 2018, I had never lived across the world or experienced a culture so foreign to me. I explain my reactions and education outside the classroom in my key insights.
You can find my educational experiences within and beyond the classroom here:
-A Religious World and the Importance of Discomfort
My Leadership section highlights the problem that multinational corporations face every day around the world and shows my recommendation to combat misunderstandings between local populations and companies around the world using experiences I had in college.
